Training

When does training start for my team?
The training schedule has now been set for Stage 3 restrictions. Please see our Training information page for more information.

Now we’re in stage 3 restrictions – what has changed?
We no longer need to train in groups of 20. We also no longer have a limit on the number of people on the field, just a social distancing measure of 1 person per 4 square metres.

What does my child need to bring to training?
Your child must be ready to train when they arrive at the ground.
They will need to bring their own water bottle, and their own hand sanitiser.

Can I watch my child train?
Yes you may, however we ask that you keep practicing social distancing, and hand hygiene. For training at the club oval, we encourage you to watch training from inside the club house during it’s opening hours.

Do I still need to sign in?
Yes, you will still need to sign in at every training session. We will be working with coaches to try to determine the best method to do this moving forward.

Competitions / Fixtures

When do games start?

  • Footy4Fun (Ages U8 -> U11)
    Starting of 10 July, finishing weekend of 26 September.12 week season
  • Youth Football (Ages U12 -> U17)
    Starting weekend of 17/18/19 July, finishing weekend of 16/17/18 October. 14 week season (which may consist of 14 games no finals, or 12 games 2 finals – yet to be determined).

Will we be playing against the same teams as we were scheduled to at the start of the year?
The fixture will change, for most teams it will primarily focus on local teams.

How do I view the fixture for my team?
There’s two really easy ways to do this:
1) Via the Game Day App – available on the App stores. Download, login or create an account, and search for your team (ie “Broadbeach Blue”) and find the right team in the right age group 2) Via the website – this link has all our teams listed. Choose your team and see the fixture for each week – View the Fixture

Will games be on the same day?
Potentially no. For the most part Footy4Fun will be on Saturdays and some Friday nights, and Youth mostly Sundays and some Friday nights. But there are other times where the games might be on a different day, depending on the circumstance.

Will my child be on the same team as before?
Yes, the majority of teams are the same. If a team has changed, your coach/team manager will have informed yuo by now. If you are unsure of what team that is, please contact your Age group coordinators.

Can I and my family watch my son/daughter?
Yes, we expect you will be able to watch your child play. We do ask that you practice your social distancing measures, keep your hand hygiene up and keep everyone safe.

Why might there not be finals?
One of the great features of junior finals is being able to play in front of a large group of people. We believe this can be allowed however we are waiting on more information from AFLQ.

Are the rules around playing up an age group different teams to what they were going to be?
Yes, player movement rules are the same as they were before the shutdown..

Game Days

Will the canteen be open?
Yes the canteen will be open for game days. We will be selling a slightly reduced menu.

Will kids be able to run through the banner for milestone games?
We are unsure of this at this stage, but we are finding out this information from AFLQ.

Will the change rooms be open?
At this point, youth teams are able to use the change room. But keep in mind the club must have it cleaned / sanitised before and after each game, so please try to keep it to players and coaches only please, and be sure to exit the change room as soon as you can after the game.

How early do we have to be for games this year?
Again this is something that we are being driven from AFLQ about. The instructions we’ve received to date is that players need to arrive at the ground ready to play. We will advise once we have information from AFLQ regarding this.

Will we have to wait for the players of the previous game to exit the ground before we can go on and warm up?
We believe this will be the case, yes. More information will be available once received from AFLQ.

What about game day awards?Will they be handed out this year
Thanks to our sponsors, YES!
Game day awards will be handed out. However they may not be able to be handed out immediately after a game. The committee will determine the appropriate method here and advise coaches and managers accordingly.

Auskick

When will Auskick start?
Auskick is set to recommence Friday July 10 at 4:30pm.

Will I be able to participate with my child like I did at the start of the year?
We should have an answer on this by Tuesday July 7.

I don’t want to participate in Auskick anymore.How do I get a refund?
Previously Auskick Ts and Cs have stated there is no refund available for Auskick. Unfortunately we are unable to assist there as a club.We recommend the best course of action be to contact the AFL Auskick Support – nab.auskick@afl.com.au

What about Superstars?
When does that start?

Our Superstars program will commence at this stage after Auskick on the 14th August and run for approximately 7 weeks until the 25th September.

Uniforms and Merchandise

I need to buy playing shorts and socks. When can I do that?
The uniform shop is open! In the lead up to games, the uniform shop is open from 4 to 6pm Monday to Friday. We will advise of the process after that point.

I’ve heard about the kids getting free merchandise. When do they get that?
Yes, thanks to our major sponsor Schoolies.com, all registered participants for 2020 will receive some merchandise as part o their registration

Polo, training singlet and drawstring bag for all participants.

Bag and Hoodie for boys aged U11 and above

Bag and Hoodie for new girls aged U11 and above.

Most boys and girls by now would have received their kit, if you haven’t please head to the uniform shop during opening hours to collect.

Registrations / Fees

Can I still register my children?
Absolutely! Registrations will be open for the forseeable future.
Please note though, due to current registration numbers, we are unable to accept any more Under 8 registrations.

Will fees be reduced for the season
No, fees will not be reduced / refunded for 2020.AFLQ have indicated their league fees will be the same, as they are proposing a near-complete season. Our Broadbeach fees go torwards purchase of playing kit, merchandise, umpires fees, first aid fees and other league-related costs, all of which have remained the same.

I don’t want to participate anymore. How do I get a refund?
If you do require a refund from your fees, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss your situation. As long as players haven’t played a game or received their merchandise kit, they are able to receive a full refund.

Club Events

Will Trophy night be on this year?
The committee is yet to make a decision on trophy presentation night.

Will the Golf Day be on this year?
At this stage the committee has not made plans for any fund-raising events however in light of the government restrictions easing this may be something that is discussed.

Will there be team photos this year?
Yes the committee hope that there will be team photos this year. A date and how it looks will be determined in the coming weeks.

Sports Club

When will the sports club be open?
The sports club is open now! Currently open from 4pm Wednesday to Friday, and from midday on Saturdays.

Will I be able to have dinner after training?
Yes we’d love you to come in and grab a meal from Campo by Alfresco’s.

How can I help?
We’d love to see you involved!
The best thing you could do right now is complete a Covid-19 Safety Training for AFL clubs.
We will be asking all committee members, coaches and team managers to complete. It will remind you what safety requirements are required for training and games.

I don’t have a blue card.
How do I get one?

You can apply for a volunteer blue card through the club online.
The process is:
1) Fill out an online form here:

2) Print out the online form – sign it, and scan it along with copies of the ID provided and send it back to the secretary (secretary@broadbeachcatsjafc.com).Mark will then sign on behalf of the club and submit the blue card application.

3) Once you have received your blue card, take a photo or scan a copy of it and send it back to Blue card manager Paige Dawson(paige_dawson@live.com) or Mark (secretary@broadbeachcatsjafc.com).

What other game roles will be neeed?
As a club we will be required to appoint someone in charge of distancing and crowd management on game days.Otherwise, please speak to your team manager about assisting on game days.
