Letter from The President of BBJAFC

Dear Members,

It is really an honour to be the incoming President of a thriving, professional organisation such as Broadbeach JAFC.

My name is Wayne Hely and I have been a parent at this Club for 4 years with my son Jake playing for this year’s Under 12’s.  During that period, I have spent a considerable amount of time and energy carrying out maintenance work in and around the Club.  This season I was a member of our very hard working Committee in various roles which I have thoroughly enjoyed.  The season ended for me this year on an extreme honour when I received the Clubman of the Year Award.

I would like to say a huge Thank You to the dedication and commitment of our outgoing President and Committee for an outstanding season which has not only left us in a healthy financial position, but also laying the foundations for our new Committee to continue to build our Club over the coming season.

My goal for the 2017 season is to work towards being a premier AFC renowned for a positive culture and a spirit of camaraderie and competitive player/performance/development and continue to improve our ground and facilities for the enjoyment of all our children and members alike.  Broadbeach has always been known as the “Family Club” and like my predecessor, I will continue to promote this throughout the season.  It’s about the kids. Always should be and always will be at Broadbeach in season 2017.

A key factor in achieving these goals is Volunteers.  Whilst we never seem to have a problem with players wanting to play for our Club, we do not have enough volunteers to manage the increasing responsibilities involved in managing our Club.  It is critical to increase our Volunteer base to spread the load so that loyal volunteers stay invigorated and enthusiastic in their roles. Our new Committee has resolved that in the registration process, we will be requiring all members to be available to give of their time during homes games at some stage during the season.  As I have stated many times this season, “If everyone does a little, nobody does a lot”.

A focus of mine this season has been to build stronger links with our Senior Football Club and also with our Cricket Club. Their new board and I will continue to do so with vigour during the 2017 season.  We are all one Club and united we are a stronger Club and will reach greater heights together.

In the weeks ahead, your new Committee has much to do to prepare for season 2017 and I can assure you we have hit the ground running.  One of the jobs we are responsible for is the appointment of Coaches.  This is arguably one of the most important roles at any Club.  Requiring development of skills, analysing performance, providing encouragement and much more.  A coach is an instructor, a mentor, a counsellor, a motivator, a supporter and a friend.  At Broadbeach in 2017, your Committee will take the appointment of Coaches seriously and once appointed, they will have the full support of the Committee to guide and teach our children to have the best experience possible playing football at Broadbeach Cats JAFC.

The Committee and I are very excited for the year ahead and we go into the new season with an “open door” approach.  We will embrace constructive feedback from our Members and look forward to working with you all to ensure that every child at Broadbeach Cats has a fun and memorable year.

In closing I would like to share with you a quote from Henry Ford….

“Coming together is a beginning.  Keeping together is progress. Working together is success”.

Love your Club..

Wayne Hely

President
