Age groups for 2020 Season

AFL Queensland have advised that the age groups will be changing for the upcoming for season 2020. The reason for this change is to bring Queensland in line with the Australian Football Match Policy and with other states that run their age group cut-offs around the school year. This is part of a broader competition revamp, the details of which will be provided to clubs at the Annual GC Juniors club conference on November 9.

These changes will allow school friends to play with each other, which we have seen historically as a preference for many, particularly in the younger age groups.

We understand there may be some concerns and uncertainty around these changes, particularly around boys and girls in older age groups who have been playing together for most of their football life. If you do have any questions please feel free to ask and we’ll answer as best we can with the information we have currently.
